Z-1 "Z-ONE"
Built in 1996, by Trinity Marine Group, a division of Halter Marine Services of Lockport, Louisiana (hull #1528) as the Z-One for the Great Lakes Towing Company of Cleveland, Ohio.
In 1996, the tug was transferred to Tugz International LLC. of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A subsidiary of the Great Lakes Group of Cleveland, Ohio. Where she retained her name.
In 2004, she was chartered to the McAllister Towing and Transportation Company of New York, New York. Where the tug was renamed as the Matthew McAllister.
In 2009, the tug was returned to Tugz International LLC. of Cleveland, Ohio. Where she was renamed as the Z-One. And, assigned to the Puerto Rico Towing and Barge Company of San Juan, Puerto Rico. A subsidiary of the Great Lakes Group of Cleveland, Ohio.
In 2015, the Puerto Rico Towing and Barge Company was acquired by the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut. Where the tug retained her name.
Powered by two, Caterpillar 3516 BTA diesel engines with two, Ulstein 1650H z-drives mounted aft. Outfitted with two, 86(in) by 81(in), four bladed, stainless steel propellers. With an additional Caterpillar 3608B DITA diesel engine driving a hydraulically controlled Ulstein 580 HRV, z-drive mounted forward. She is a twin screw tractor tug, rated at 5,100 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by one, 110kW generator set and one 99kW generator set. The tug's capacities are 34,359 gallons of fuel, 503 gallons of lube oil, 1,775 gallons of potable water, and 1,572 gallon capacity of AFF foam.
She is ABS Classed +A-1 Towing, +A.M.S. Ice Class D. The tug is equipped with a fire pump, rated at 3,000 Gallons Per Minute, feeding two fire monitors.
Her towing equipment consists of an Almon Johnson, double drum, winch outfitted with 450(ft) of 7(in) Dynema line per drum mounted on her bow. A second Almon Johnson, single Drum winch mounted on her stern, outfitted with 450(ft) of 7(in) Dynema line.
