OCEAN STAR (1979)

Built in 1979, by McDermott Shipyards Incorporated of Morgan City, Louisiana (hull #245) as the Ocean Star for the Sheridan Towing Company Incorporated of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A subsidiary of Ira S. Bushey and Sons Incorporated of Brooklyn, New York.

In 1977, the Red Star Towing Company was acquired by the Hess Oil Corporation of New York, New York. To form the Spentonbush-Red Star Companies of Brooklyn, New York. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1989, the Spentonbush-Red Star Companies were acquired the Hess Oil Corporation of New York, New York. Establishing the Hess Oil Corporation's marine division.

In 2003, the tug was acquired by the McAllister Towing and Transportation Company of New York, New York. Where the she was renamed as the Bridget McAllister.

In 2009, she was acquired by the Reinauer Transportation Companies of Staten Island, New York. Where the tug was renamed the Timothy L. Reinauer.

In 2009, her original wheelhouse was removed and the stern was enclosed, and raised to add reserve buoyancy. The tug's main engines were rebuilt by the General Motors Electromotive Division. And, she was outfitted with an alpha level fuel oil centerfuge, and an oily water separator. The work was completed by the Reinauer Transportation Company at the company's yard in Staten Island, New York.

Following the completion of work on her main engines, engine room components, and installation of new steel. The tug was towed to SENESCO Marine of North Kingston, Rhode Island. Where the tug was outfitted with a new tower, and raised wheelhouse. Designed by Jensen Marine Naval Architects of Seattle, Washington. The tower and house, was based upon a design by Robert Hill of Ocean Tug and Barge engineering of Milford, Massachusetts. And, she was outfitted with an INTERcon "C" coupler system, also engineered by Robert Hill of Ocean Tug and Barge Engineering of Milford, Massachusetts.

Powered by two, sixteen cylinder, supercharged, EMD 645 diesel engines. Turning two, cast steel, fixed pitch, propellers mounted in kort nozzles. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 4,200 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 125kW generator sets. With a third 125kW generator set, as an auxiliary. The tug's capacities are 124,953 gallons of fuel.
