BUCHANAN 12
Built in 1972, by Halter Marine Services Incorporated of Lockport, Louisiana (hull #351) as the Buchanan 12 for Buchanan Marine Limited Partnership Incorporated of New Haven, Connecticut.
In 2005, she was re powered with two, eight cylinder, EMD diesel engines. The work was performed at Derektor Shipyard Incorporated in Bridgeport, Connecticut for a rated 3,000 horsepower.
In 2019, the tug was repowered at Feeney's Shipyard in Kingston, New York with two, Tier III compliant, Cummins QSK-50 M1 diesel engines. With Reintjes WAF773 reduction gears, at a ratio of 7.087:1. Turning two, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 3,080 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 65kW John Deere 4045TFM7 generator sets. The tug's capacites are 26,370 gallons of fuel, 613 gallons gallons of lube oil, 4,800 gallons of slop oil, 4,800 gallons of grey water, and 8,000 gallons of potable water.
The towing equipment consists of two, Nabrico hydraulic face winches.
