Built in 1982, by Marine Industries North West Incorporated of Portland, Oregon (hull #R-640) as the P.J. Brix for the Brix Maritime Company of Seattle, Washington.
In 1993, the Brix Maritime Company was acquired by the Foss Maritime Company of Seattle, Washington. Where the tug retained her name.
Powered by two, Caterpillar 3512 diesel engines. With Nigata RGC 130K-72 z drives. Outfitted with two, five bladed, 73.5(in) by 73(in), stainless steel propellers. She is a twin screw tractor tug, rated at 2,560 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 90kW, Kato generator sets. Driven by two, Caterpillar 3304-T diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 32,330 gallons of fuel, 375 gallons of hydraulic oil, 780 gallons of lube, and 5,540 gallons of water.
The towing equipment consist of a single drum, INTERcon SD-125E, towing winch.
