Built in 2014, by Patti Marine Enterprises Incorporated of Pensacola, Florida (hull #174) as the Signet Polaris for the Signet Maritime Corporation of Houston, Texas.
The tug was designed by the Naval Architecture firm Robert Allen Limited of Vancouver, British Columbia for the Signet Maritime Corporation of Houston, Texas.
Powered by two, Tier III compliant Caterpillar C175 diesel engines. With two Rolls Royce US255, controllable pitch z-drives. Outfitted with two, 2800(mm) diameter, four bladed Nibral propellers. For a rated 6,834 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 125kW, Tier III compliant, John Deere Model 6068TFM76 generators. The tug's capacities are 88,268 gallons of fuel, 5,982 gallons of potable water, 621 gallons of lube oil, 125 gallons of hydraulic oil, 1,201 gallons of oily water storage, 25,407 gallons of ballast, and 977 gallons of sludge storage.
The towing gear consists of a 75 horsepower Markey DEPCF 52S electric hawser winch, outfitted with 500(ft) of 9(in) Samson Saturn 12 hawser, mounted on her bow. And a 100 horsepower Markey TESD 34, electric towing winch, outfitted with 2,500(ft) of 2.25(in) towing wire on one drum. As well as 1,500(ft) of 2.25(in) towing wire on the secondary drum.
Her firefighting equipment includes two FFS SFP 250 by 350 pumps. Driven off of the front end of the main engines. Feeding two remotely operated FFS l1200(lb) fire monitors, with a capacity of 5,300(gpm) and 400(ft) range.
