Built in 2009, by Guangdong Hope Yue Shipbuilding, China as the Signet Atlantic for the Signet Maritime Corporation of the United Arab Emerates of Dubai. A division of the Signet Maritime Corporation of Houston, Texas.

The tug was designed by Guangdong Hope Yue Shipbuilding, China. For the Signet Maritime Corporation of the United Arab Emerates of Dubai. A division of the Signet Maritime Corporation of Houston, Texas.

In 2011, the tug was acquired by Vortex Offshore of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Where she was renamed as the Pacific Vortex.

Powered by two, Caterpillar 516BHD diesel engines. With two Rolls Royce Aquamaster U5255CP z-drives. Outfitted with two, 102.4(in)2,600(mm) four bladed NIBRAL propellers for rated 6,437 horsepower. She is also fitted with a 250 horsepower bow thruster, driven by a Caterpillar C7 diesel engine.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 136kW, Cummins 6CTA8.3 generator sets, and a third 69kW/380V Caterpillar 1104C.44TA6 generator. The tug's capacities are 56,000 gallons of fuel, and 17,000 gallons of potable water.

The towing equipment consists of a hydraulic, split drum winch mounted on her bow. Fitted with two lengths of 110(m) of 80(mm) polypropylene hawser. On her stern, she is outfitted with a hydraulic single drum towing winch. Outfitted with 700(m) of 52(mm) stainless steel towing cable.

Her firefighting equipment includes two, 250 by 350 SFP FFS Pumps. Driven off of the front ends of the main engines. Feeding two remote controlled FS Model 1200(lb) fire monitors.
