Built in 2003, by Eastern Shipbuilding Group of Panama City, Florida (hull #798) as the A.J. McAllister for the McAllister Towing and Transportation Company of New York, New York.
Named for Captain A.J. McAllister III, the Senior Vice President of Sales of the McAllister Towing and Transportation Company.
Powered by two, EMD 12-645-F7B diesel engines. Turning two, Schottel SRP1215 z-drives. She is a twin screw tractor tug, rated at 5,150 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 99kW Delco E7345M1 generator sets. The tug's capacities are 28,280 gallons of fuel oil, 500 gallons of lube oil, 6,700 gallons of potable water, as well as 3,000 gallons of AFF fire fighting foam.
The tug is ABS Classed, +A-1 Towing, +A.M.S. With a fire fighting class 1 (FiFi 1), escort vessel certification. Her fire fighting capabilities are provided by two 12V-92TA diesel engines driving two Nijhuis HGT1 Pumps. Capable of pumping 11,600 Gallons Per Minute. Feeding two, Skum MK-250EL/VR remote controlled, monitors with foam injection capabilities. And, a pumping capacity of 1,100 (GPM) she also is fitted with a deluge system.
She features a full engine room monitoring system, with remote monitoring capability at the helm station in the wheelhouse. Including a remote control start, and stop capability for the main engines. Her hull is also outfitted with underwater submarine fendering.
The towing gear consists of a JonRie, double brake, escort winch. Outfitted with 450(ft) of 7(in) Amsteel Blue synthetic rope, mounted on her bow. As well as another JonRie Hawser winch, outfitted with 450(ft) of 7(in) of Amsteel Blue synthetic rope.
