
Built in 2007, by the Colle Towing Company of Pascagoula, Mississippi (hull #104) as the John Colle for the Colle Towing Company of Pascagoula, Mississippi.
The tug was designed by the Naval Architecture firm Robert Allen Limited of Vancouver, British Columbia for the Colle Towing Company of Pascagoula, Mississippi.
In 2010, the Colle Towing Company was acquired by the Signet Maritime Corporation of Houston, Texas. Where the tug was retained her name.
In 2011, the Signet Maritime Corporation renamed the tug as the Signet Reliance.
Powered by two, Caterpillar 3516B diesel engines. With two Rolls Royce US205 z-drives, fitted with two 94.5(in)2,400(mm) stainless steel propellers, for a rated 6,250 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 125kW Onan generator sets. Driven by two, Cummins 6 CTA 8.3 DM diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 54,000 gallons of fuel, and 3,000 gallons of potable water.
The towing equipment consists of a Burrard Iron Works HE winch mounted on the bow. Outfitted with 600(ft) of 2.75(in) HMPE hawser. On the stern, she is outfitted with a single drum Burrard Iron Works HJ towing winch. Outfitted with 1,500(ft) of 2(in) towing wire.
Her firefighting capabilities of Nijhuis HGTF-1-350.650 pump, driven by a Cummins KTA50-M2 diesel engine. Feeding two remote controlled FFS 1200(lb) fire monitors.
