Built in 1966, by Main Iron Works Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #159) as the Jim Colle for the Colle Towing Company of Pascagoula, Mississippi.
In 2010, the Colle Towing Company was acquired by the Signet Maritime Corporation of Houston, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Signet Puritan.
In 2019, the tug was acquired by Portside Marine and Towing Incorporated of Pensacola, Florida. Where she was renamed as the Capt. John Racine.
Powered by two, Caterpillar 3512B Series II diesel engines. with Twin Disc MG540 reduction gears. Turning two 80(in) by 52(in), four bladed stainless steel propellers. For a rated 2,562 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by one, 40kW International Electric generator, driven by a Detroit Diesel 3-71 diesel engine. One, 55kW Onan Genset Generator, driven by a Cummins 6B5.9 D-(M) diesel engine. The tug's capacities are 25,000 gallons of fuel, 4,500 gallons of water, and 200 gallons of lube oil.
