Built in 1981, by the Louis G. Ortis Boat Company of Krotz Springs, Louisiana (hull #145) as the C. McVea Jr. for JNT Fleet Incorporated of Metairie, Louisiana.
In 2005, the tug was acquired by the Colle Towing Company of Pascagoula, Mississippi. Where she retained her name.
In 2010, the Colle Towing Company was acquired by the Signet Maritime Corporation of Houston, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Signet Legend.
Powered by two, Cummins QSM11 diesel engines engines. With Twin Disc MG514B reduction gears. Turning two, 58(in) by 45(in), four bladed, stainless steel propellers. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 710 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 30kW AC Delco generator sets. Driven by two, Detroit Diesel 3-71 diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 10,000 gallons of fuel, 3,000 gallons of potable water, and 200 gallons of lube oil.
The deck equipment includes two, 40 ton electric Nabrico DF-1 winches. Outfitted with 130(ft) of 1.5(in) Samson Amsteel Blue HMPE hawser.
