Built in 1966, by S.B.A. Shipyards Incorporated of Jennings, Louisiana (hull #176) as the Voyager for the Barge Transportation Company of Houston, Texas.
In 1994, the tug was acquired by the Mid Coast Barge Corporation of Port Aransas, Texas. Where she retained her name.
In 2003, she was acquired by the Gulf Coast Tugs Incorporated of LaRose, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Larry J. Hebert.
In 2010, the tug was acquired by the Marquette Transportation Company of Jefferson, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Mr. Larry
In 2014, she was acquired by the Intracoastal Maritime Corporation of Chesapeake, Virginia. Where the tug was renamed as the Southern Star.
In 2021, the company was acquired by Dale Martin of Lafayette, Louisiana. Intercoastal Marine Incorporated became part of the Intra Marine Group of Lafayette, Louisiana. And is operated as a division of the Intra Marine Group.
In 2005, the tug was re powered with two, Cummins KTA 19-M4 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 5.17:1. Turing two, stainless steel, fixed pitch propellers, mounted kort nozzles. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 1,600 horsepower.
