An ATLANTIC IV class ATB, designed by Robert Hill of Ocean Tug and Barge Engineering of Milford, Massachusetts. She was the second Articulated Tug built for the Moran Towing Corporation by Bay Shipbuilding. And, was the tenth articulated tug and barge placed in service for the Moran Towing Company.
Powered by two, Tier III compliant, EMD 710 ME12G7C-T3 diesel engines. With Lufkin reverse/reduction gears at a ratio of 4.5:1. Turning two, Rolls Royce, fixed pitch, new generation, five bladed, 115(in) stainless steel propellers. For a rated 5,100 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, Tier III compliant, 65kW John Deere generator sets. Her emergency service is provided by a single, Tier III compliant, 65kW John Deere generator set.
The tug's capacities are 105,000 gallons of fuel oil, 2,500 gallons of lube oil, another 850 gallons of lube oil as well as 50,000 gallons of ballast water; 18,000 gallons of potable water; 1,400 gallons of waste oil.
Her deck equipment consists of a Markey CEWP-90 27 diameter 40 horsepower electric capstan on the stern a Markey CEW-60, 15HP, electric capstan on her bow.
The tug is fitted with an INTERcon C series coupler system. She is "married" to the 110,000 bbl oil/chemical barge Louisiana. That was constructed simultaneously at Bay Shipbuilding of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin (hull #775) for the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut.
