Built in 1967, by Barbour Metal Boat Works of St. Louis, Missouri as the Jean McDowell for the Peabody Coal Company St. Louis, Missouri.

The tug was later acquired by the Southern Illinois Sand Company of Chester, Illinois. Where she retained her name.

In 2000, she was acquired by the Madison Coal and Supply Company of Charleston, West Virginia. Where the tug was renamed as the Bus Brown.

In 2010, the Madison Coal and Supply Company, become Amherst Madison Incorporated of Charleston, West Virginia. Where the tug retained her name.

She is a twin screw tug rated at 660 horsepower.
