Built in 1900, at Athens, New York as the George K. Kirkman for the John E. Moore Company of New York, New York.

In 1928, the tug was acquired by the Moran Towing Company of New York, New York. Where the tug retained her name.

On June 6th, 1935 the tug burned at Albany, New York. She was single screw tug, rated at 350 horsepower.
