FLUSHING
Built in 1937, by Ira S. Bushey and Sons Incorporated of Brooklyn, New York (hull #462) as the Flushing for the Ira S. Bushey and Sons Company of Brooklyn, New York.
In 1950, she was acquired by the Lake Michigan Contractors Company Holland, Michigan. Where the tug retained her name.
In 1964, the tug foundered. She was refloated and rebuilt by Edward Sanchez of the Massachusetts Towing Company of Fall River, Massachusetts.
In 1989, the tug was later acquired by the Crosby Towboat Company of Boston, Massachusetts. Where the tug retained her name.
In 1989, the tug was acquired by the C and M Towing Company of New York, New York. Where the tug retained her name.
In 2004, she was acquired by Acushnet Marine Incorporated of Boston, Massachusetts. Where the tug retained her name.
In 2004, the tug was acquired by the New Providence Towing Company of the Bahamas. Where the tug retained her name.
Originally powered by a single, two stroke, single acting, seven cylinder, Fairbanks-Morse diesel engine. She was later repowered with a ten cylinder, Fairbanks-Morse, 38D-8-1/8 diesel engine. She was a single screw tug, rated at 2,000 horsepower.
