Built in 1980, by Bayou Black Shipyard Incorporated of Gibson, Louisiana (hull #0001) as the Bengal for the Bengal Marine Company of Lockport, Louisiana.

In 1984, the tug was acquired by Aqua Marine Managment Incorporated of Baytown, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Aggie.

In 1984, she was returned to the Bengal Marine Company of Lockport, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Bengal Aggie.

In 1984, the tug was acquired by the Rose Transportation Company of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Where she was renamed as the Purple Rose.

In 1985, she was acquired by the Watson Marine Services Company of Port Allen, Louisiana. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1988, the tug was acquired by Marine Inland Industries Incorporated of West Bay, Florida. Where she retained her name.

She was later acquired by the Local Towing Company Incorporated of Norwalk, Connecticut. Where she was renamed as the John G.

The tug was then acquired by Monteiro Towing Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1997, she was acquired by Double Eagle Marine Incorporated of New Iberia, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Fighting Eagle.

In 2001, she was acquired by the Delta Towing Company of Houma, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Delta Tiger.

In 2011, the Delta Towing Company was acquired by Crosby Marine Transportation Company of Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.

In 2013, the tug was acquired by General Electric Company of Albany, New York. Where she was renamed as the HR Bass. And, she was rebuilt with a retractable pilothouse.

In 2016, she was acquired by the New York State Marine Highway Transportation Company of Troy, New York. Where she was renamed as the Betty D.

In 2021, the tug was scrapped at Albany, New York.

She was powered by two, GM 16V-71 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at ratio of 5:1. She was a twin screw towboat, rated at 1,000 horsepower.
