BENJAMIN ELLIOT
Built in 1960, by the Gladding Hearn Shipbuilding Company of Somerset, Massachusetts (hull #55) as the El-Jean for the Monahan Towing Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In 1962, the tug was acquired by the Troy Town Dock Company of Troy, New York. Where she was renamed as the Benjamin Elliot.
In 2007, the tug was acquired by the New York State Marine Highway Transportation Company of Troy, New York. Where the tug retained her name.
Powered by two, Detroit Diesel 6-110 diesel engines. Turning two, fixed pitch, propellers. For a rated 640 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 15kW, AC, Kabota generator sets. The tug's capacities are 2,000 gallons of fuel, 50 gallons of lube oil, 700 gallons of potable water, and 100 gallons of potable water.
