Built in 1981, by the Rodriguez Boat Builders of Coden, Alabama (hull #33) as the Gold Coast for Lockport Tugs Incorporated of Lockport, Louisiana.

She was later acquired by the Allied Transportation Company of Norfolk, Virginia. Where she was renamed as the Trident.

In 1993, the tug was acquired by the Vane Brothers Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Where she was renamed as the Capt. Russi.

She was named for the Vane Brothers Company's senior port captain, Russi Makujina. In 1972, Makujina was marooned in Baltimore, Maryland during to a longshoreman's strike.

After obtaining employment with the Vane Brothers Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Makujina's family immigrated to the United States under the sponsorship of the Hughes family. The owners of the Vane Brothers Company.

In 2014, the tug was acquired by Intracoastal Marine Incorporated of Chesapeake, Virginia. Where she was renamed as the Kodiak.

In 2021, the company was acquired by Dale Martin of Lafayette, Louisiana. Intercoastal Marine Incorporated became part of the Intra Marine Group of Lafayette, Louisiana. And is operated as a division of the Intra Marine Group.

In 2024, the tug was acquired by Precon Marine Incorporated of Chesapeake, Virginia. Where she was renamed as the Ida M.

Powered by two, Detroit Diesel 12V71 diesel engines, with Twin Disc MG 514 reduction gears. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 800 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 30kW, Detroit Diesel 371 generator sets. The tug's capacities are 15,000 gallons of fuel, 300 gallons of lube oil, and 10,000 gallons of water.
