Built in 1975 by the Willamette-Western Corporation of Portland, Oregon as the Willamette Workhorse for Willamette Tug and Barge of Portland, Oregon.
In 1988 Willamette Tug and Barge was acquired by Brix Maritime, where the tug retained its name.
She was later acquired by Manson Construction of Seattle, Washington, where the tug was renamed as Workhorse.
