Built in 1966, by the San Diego Marine Construction Company of San Diego, California (hull #141) as the Mercury for Crowley Marine Services Incorporated of San Francisco, California.

In 2004, she was acquired by the Brusco Tug and Barge Company of Longview, Washington. Where the tug was renamed as the Richard Brusco.

Powered by two, EMD-12-645-E5 diesel engines. She is twin screw tug, rated at 4,300 horsepower.
