Built in 1968, by Rayco Shipbuilders and Repairs Incorporated of Bourg, Louisiana (hull #5) as the Mate for the Marine Towing Company of Houston, Texas.

In 1995, the tug was acquired by Hollywood Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Capt. Frank Stallings.

In 1998, she was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2020, the tug was acquired by Magnolia Fleet Incorporated of Belle Chasse, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Taylor.

In 2020, Magnolia Fleet Incorporated renamed the tug as the Capt. Frank Stallings.

She is twin screw, towboat, rated at 800 horsepower.
