DORIS MORAN (1967)

Built in 1967, by the Gulfport Shipbuilding Corporation of Port Arthur, Texas (hull #686) as the Doris Moran for the Moran Towing Corporation of New York, New York.

In 1970, the tug was transferred to the Moran Towing Corporation's affiliate the Curtis Bay Towing Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Where she was renamed as the Cape Hatteras.

In 1988, the Curtis Bay Towing Company was absorbed into the Moran Towing Corporation. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2020, she was phased out of active service and was "laid up" at Norfolk, Virginia.

In 2022, the tug was scrapped at Staten Island, New York. She was a twin screw tug, rated at 3,900 horsepower.
