Built in 1981, by St. Louis Ship Incorporated of St. Louis, Missouri (hull #4753) as the Beth Armstrong for the H and S Transportation Company of Houston, Texas.

In 1981, the tug was sold. Where she was renamed as the North Bend.

In 1987, the tug was sold. Where she was renamed as the City of Memphis.

In 1994, she was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the City of Vicksburg.

Powered by two, GM 16-645E7BA diesel engines. With Falk reduction gears, at a ratio of 4.345:1. She is a twin screw, towboat, with kort nozzles, rated at 6,140 horsepower.
