Built in 1972, by the Brent Towing Company of Greenville, Mississippi (hull #40) as the Belinda Brent for the Brent Towing Company of Greenville, Mississippi.
In 1988, the tug was acquired by Ole Man River Towing Incorporated of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Where she was renamed as the Austin Golding.
In 2006, she was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Francis Benedict.
Powered by two, GM 8-645E2 diesel engines. With Falk reduction gears, at a ratio of 4.304:1. She is a twin screw, towboat, rated at 1,950 horsepower.
