Built in 1983, the by LeMay Barge and Supply Incorporated of Greenville, Mississippi (hull #338) as the Riverside for the Chotin Transportation Company of New Orleans, Louisiana.

In 1998, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name.

In 2021, she was phased out of active service and was "laid up" at Corpus Christi, Texas.

Powered by two, Cummins KTA19 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 7:1. She was a triple screw, towboat rated at 1,800 horsepower.
