Built in 1975, by A.E. Hingle Boat Works Incorporated of Lacombe, Louisiana as the Carmella B.

In 1976, the tug was sold. Where she was renamed as the Cajun King.

In 1977, she was acquired by Dixie Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Dixie King.

In 1984, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Jimmy P. Lafont.

In 2008, she was acquired by the Callais and Sons Company of Cut Off, Louisiana. Where the tug retained her name.

Powered by two, GM 12V-149 diesel engines. She is a twin screw, towboat, rated at 1,350 horsepower.
