Built in 1981, by the Gulf Outlet Marine Repair Company of Slidell, Louisiana (hull #7) as the Gulf Venture the Maritime Gulf Ventures Company of Slidell, Louisiana.
In 1984, the tug was acquired by Alamo Barge Lines Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where she was renamed as the Alamo Venture.
In 1985, she was acquired by Hollywood Marine Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Venture.
In 1999, the tug was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where she retained her name.
In 2021, she was phased out of active service and was "laid up" at Houston, Texas.
Powered by two, GM 16V-149 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 7:1. She was a twin screw towboat rated at 1,800 horsepower.
