Built in 1969, by Captain Latham Smith of Miami, Florida (hull #1) as the Elsbeth for the Smith Maritime Ocean Towing and Salvage Company of Palatka, Florida.

In 2024, the tug was redocumented as a recreational vessel and renamed as teh Capt. Latham.

Powered by two, Caterpillar D-353 diesel engines. With Twin Disc reduction gears, at a ratio of 3.5:1. Turning two, 62(in), four bladed, fixed pitch propellers, mounted in kort nozzles. For a rated 1,200 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by three generator sets. The tug's capacities are 16,500 gallons of fuel.
