APOLLO (1967)

Built in 1967, by Mangone Shipbuilding Incorporated of Houston, Texas (hull #81) as the Apollo for Crowley Marine Services Incorporated of San Francisco, California.

She was the first Jupiter class tug constructed for Crowley Marine Services Incorporated by the Mangone Shipbuilding Company.

In 2000, the tug was acquired by the Sause Brothers Ocean Towing Company of Portland, Oregon. Where she was renamed as the Mi'oi.

In 2003, the Sause Brothers Ocean Towing Company phased the tug out of service. And, she was "laid up."

In 2003, she was acquired by Westar Marine Services Incorporated of San Francisco, California. Where the tug was renamed as the Apollo.

In 2015, the tug was chartered to the Curtin Maritime Company of Long Beach, California. Where she was renamed as the Kelly C.

The tug was completely rebuilt, repowered, and renovated. Including installation of new Caterpillar diesel engines, installation of a new electrical system, and installation of two, new generator sets. The project also included the installation of a new deck house, new below deck crew accommodations, and new stacks. The renovated tug went under contract to the United States Navy, transporting ramp, deck barges.

In 2017, the tug was acquired by the Curtin Maritime Company of Long Beach, California. Where the tug retained her name.

Powered by two, Tier II compliant, Caterpillar 3512B diesel engines. With Twin Disc MG-5600 reduction gears, at a ratio of 6:1. Turning two, fixed pitch propellers, she is a twin screw tug rated at 3,000 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 65kW, Northern Lights generator sets. The tug's capacities are 4,500 gallons of fuel, 500 gallons of lube oil, 5,000 gallons of water.

The towing equipment consists of a Skagit RB90, double drum, towing winch. Outfitted with 1,800(ft) of 1.75(in), 6x26 IWRC brightwire. Driven by a dedicated, single Detroit Diesel 6V71 diesel engine.
