Built in 1975, by the Phillip Ditta Shipyard Incorporated of Madisonville, Louisiana as the Lady Janice for Furlough Incorporated of Roper, North Carolina.

In 2005, the tug was acquired by the Dann Marine Towing Company of Chesapeake City, Maryland. Where she was reamed as the Barbary Coast.

In 2008, she was acquired by Atchafalaya Marine Incorporated of Patterson, Louisiana. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2010, the tug was acquired by Rentrop Tugs Incorporated of Morgan City, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Barbarian.

In 2016, she was acquired by McBride River Services Incorporated of Prospect, Kentucky. Where the tug was renamed as the Kendel Phillipp.

Powered by two, Waukesha DSIM diesel engines. She is a square bow, twin screw, push boat. Rated at 1,800 horsepower.
