Built in 1961, by the Hillstrom Shipbuilding Company of Coos Bay, Oregon as the Captain Louie for the Knutson Towboat Company of Coos Bay, Oregon.

In 1983, the tug was rebuilt where she was lengthened by 10(ft) and widened by 6(ft).

Repowered in 1983, turning two fixed-pitch propellers in kort nozzles. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 670 horsepower.
