
Built in 1968, by the Service Machine and Shipbuilding Corporation Amelia, Louisiana (hull #108) as the Little Andy for the Fonteneau and Smith Boat Company of Morgan City, Louisiana.
In 1978, the Fonteneau and Smith Boat Company was acquired by Newpark Marine Services of The Woodlands, Texas. Where the tug was renamed as the Newpark Sunray.
In 1982, she was acquired by the Gulf Fleet Marine Corporation of Houston, Texas. Where the tug retained her name
In 1982, the tug was acquired by T.L. James and Company Incorporated of St. Rose, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the J.C. Love Jr.
In 1998, the tug was acquired by Weeks Marine Incorporated of Cranford, New Jersey. Where she retained her name.
In 2021, she was phased out of active service and was "laid up" at Houma, Louisiana.
Powered by two, Caterpillar 3406 diesel engines. With Twin Disc MG-514-C reduction gears, at a ratio of 5.16:1. Turning two, 52(in) by 47(in), four bladed, fixed pitch propellers. She was a twin screw tug, rated at 800 horsepower.
Her electrical service was provided by two, 20kW, Northern Lights/M20CR generator sets. The tug's capacities were 10,580 gallons of fuel, 330 gallons of lube oil, and 2,000 gallons of potable water.
