Built in 1981, by McDermott Shipyard of Morgan City, Louisiana (hull #261) as the Amoco Richmond for the Amoco Shipping Company of Wilmington, Delaware.

In 1986, the tug was acquired by the BP Oil Shipping Company of Columbus, Ohio. Where she was renamed as the Richmond Bay.

In 1997, she was acquired by the Moran Towing Corporation of New Canaan, Connecticut. Where she was renamed as the April.

In 1998, the Moran Towing Corporation renamed the tug as the April Moran.

In 2002, the tug was acquired by the Beracah Lubricants Company of Lagos, Nigeria, Africa. Where she was renamed as the Thor.

She was a twin screw tug, rated at 5,800 horsepower.
