Built in 1953, by the Fabri-Steel Company at Oakland, California as the Meridian for the Crowley Marine Services Incorporated of San Francisco, California.

The tug was later acquired by Northland Services Incorporated of Seattle, Washington. Where she was renamed as the Polar Sky.

In 1995, Northland Services Incorporated renamed the tug as Polar Wolf.

In 2013, Northland Services Incorporated was acquired by Lynden Incorporated of Seattle, Washington. Where the company was retained as a subsidiary operation. And the tug retained her name.

In 2014, Northland Services Incorporated was merged into Lynden Incorporated subsidiary. Alaska Marine Lines Incorporated of Seattle, Washington. Where the tug retained her name.

Powered by two, Caterpillar Model 353 diesel engines. With Twin Disc 521 reduction gears, at a ratio of 3.034:1. Turning two, fixed pitch, 52(in) by 46(in) propellers. For a rated 580 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by one, 30kW, Isuzu Northern Lights, generator set and one, 20kW Ishikawa Northern Lights generator set. The tug's capacities are 6,000 gallons of fuel, and 200 gallons of lube oil.

The towing equipment consists of a hydraulic towing winch. Outfitted with 600(ft) of 1.125(in) towing wire.
