Built in 2008, by Portier Shipyard Incorporated of Chauvin, Louisiana (hull #160) as the Capt. Alex for Linbar Marine Incorporated of Chauvin, Louisiana.

The tug was later sold. Where she was renamed as the Miss Tara.

In 2012, she was acquired by St. James Services Incorporated of Convent, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the St. James.

In 2015, the tug was acquired by Intracoastal Marine Incorporated of Chesapeake, Virginia. Where the tug was renamed as the Coastal Trader.

She is twin screw, rated at 1,200 horsepower.
