Built in 1971, by Houma Shipbuilding Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #40).

In 2004, the tug was acquired by Interport Towing and Transportation Incorporated of Southport Maine. Where she was renamed as the Eddie R.

In 2014, she was acquired by Smith Marine Incorporated of Marblehead, Massachusetts. Where the tug was renamed as the Meridian.

Powered by two, Lugger L6170 diesel engines. With Twin Disc MG-5202 DC reduction gears, at a ratio of 5:1. Turning two, 64(in) by 60(in), Nibral, fixed pitch propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 1,700 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, Tier II compliant, 30kW, generator sets. The tug's capacities are 16,100 gallons of fuel, 170 gallons of lube oil, and 4,600 gallons of water.

The tug's towing equipment consists of a Smatco 44, split drum, towing winch. Outfitted with 1,200(ft) of 1.25(in) wire on each drum.
