Built in 1981, by Diamond Manufacturing Incorporated of Savannah, Georgia (hull #479) as the Belcher Tampa for the the Belcher Towing Company of Tampa, Florida.
She was "married" with the 560(ft), by 41(ft), by 92.5, 417,000(bbls) barge, the Belcher Barge #101. which was constructed in 1979 by Galveston Shipbuilding Incorporated of Galveston, Texas for Belcher Towing Company of Miami, Florida.
In 1983, the tug sank. She was powered by a 38(ft) tall single, Burmeister and Wain 7L67GF turbocharged, slow-speed, direct reversing, crosshead diesel engines. The engines where custom built in Copenhagen, Denmark, by Burmeister and Wain. She was a single screw tug, rated at 15,200 horsepower.
