Founded in 1965, by, Captain Harry H. Rowland. Wilmington Tug Incorporated has been owned and operated by the Rowland family.

In 1977, Wilmington tug built and placed into service the first tractor tug in the United States.

Along with the other owners who have been experienced docking pilots. With hands on expertise that resulted in the assembly of an advanced tug fleet for ship assist in the Delaware Bay and River regions.

The company provides services including ship assist, tug and barge assist, escort duties, and launch services. Wilmington Tug is a family owned and operated company that has been providing harbor assist towage and services on the Delaware River.
