Built in 1978, by Terrebonne Shipbuilders Incorporated of Houma, Louisiana (hull #15) as the Itco XVII for the Independent Towing Company of Harvey, Louisiana.
In 1986, the tug was acquired by the McKinney and Grantham Towing Company of New Orleans, Louisiana. Where she renamed as the Bill Grantham.
In 1996, she was acquired by Basin Offshore Incorporated of Berwick, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Basin Pride.
In 2000, the tug was acquired by the Gellatly Petroleum and Towing Corporation of Hopewell Junction, New York. Where she was renamed as the Peter F. Gellatly.
In 2006, she was acquired by the T and D Towing Company of Morgan City, Louisiana. Where the tug was renamed as the Mr. Dean.
In 2024, the tug was acquired by Bancroft Contracting Incorporated of South Paris, Maine. Where she was renamed as the Bancroft 24.
Rebuilt in 2006, she is powered by two, GM 16V92 diesel engines. With Twin Disc 520 reduction gears, at a ratio of 6:1. Turning two, fixed pitch, stainless steel propellers. She is twin screw tug, rated at 1,200 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by two, 30kW generator sets. Driven by two, Detroit Diesel 3-71 diesel engines. The tug's capacities are 17,500 gallons of fuel, 250 gallons of lube oil, and 4,000 gallons of water.
The towing equipment consists of a Smatco, DAW 44, split drum towing winch. Driven by a dedicated GM 4-71 diesel engine. Outfitted with 1,200(ft) of 1.25(in) towing wire.
