Built in 1970 by the Reliable Welding Works Company of Olympia, Washington (hull #36) as the Cedar King for Olympia Towing Company of Olympia, Washington.

In 1989, Olympia Towing Company was acquired by the Dunlap Towing Company of Everett, Washington. Where the tug retained her name.

She is a single screw tug, rated at 335 horsepower.
