Built in 1961 by Main Iron Works Incorporated at Houma, Louisiana as the Ernest H. Doss for the Mutual Oil Corporation of Birmingham, Alabama.
In 1963, the tug was acquired by Triangle Refineries Incorporated of Houston, Texas. Where she retained her name.
In 1973, she was acquired by Brown Marine Service Incorporated of Pensacola, Florida. Where the tug retained her name.
In 1993, the tug was acquired by Florida Marine Transporters Incorporated of Mandeville, Louisiana. Where she retained her name.
In 2002, Florida Marine Transporters renamed her as the A.B. York.
In 2009, she was renamed again as the A.B. 1.
In 2015, the tug was acquired by Harbor Towing and Fleeting of Metairie, Louisiana. Where she was renamed as the Pamela Ann.
Repowered in 1980, she is fitted with two GM 16V-149 diesel engines, with Twin Disc reduction gear at a ratio of 4.375:1. She is a twin screw towboat rated at 1,800 horsepower.
