Built in 2004, by Sea Boats Incorporated of Fall River, Massachusetts (hull #6) as the Donald C. for Sea Boats Incorporated of Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
In 2011, the tug was acquired by the K-Sea Transportation Partnership Incorporated of East Brunswick, New Jersey. Where she was renamed as the Mediterranean Sea.
In 2011, the K-Sea Transportation Partnership Incorporated was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas. Where the tug retained her name.
In 2017, the tug was phased out of active service, and was "laid up" at the Kirby Corporation's yard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In 2021, she was acquired by the DonJon Marine Company of Hillside, New Jersey. Where the tug was renamed as the Douglas J.
Powered by two, Caterpillar 3516B diesel engines. She is a twin screw tug rated at 4,800 horsepower.
The tug's capacities are 114,000 gallons of fuel, 2,540 gallons of hydraulic oil, 2,900 gallons of lube oil, 1,900 of slop oil, 6,800 gallons of potable water, and 105,490 gallons of ballast.
