Built in 1982, by St. Louis Ship of St. Louis, Missouri (hull #5002) as the Steel Challenger for Ohio Barge Line Incorporated of Dravosburg, Pennsylvania.

In 1990, the tug was acquired by the Ingram Barge Company of Nashville, Tennessee. Where she was renamed as the Joe B. Wyatt.

Powered by two, GM 16-645E7B diesel diesel engines. With Lufkin reduction gears, at a ratio of 4.88:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 6,120 horsepower.
