Built in 1973, by Scully Brothers Boat Builders Incorporated Stephensville, Louisiana (hull #15) as the Aaron J. Toups for Toups Marine Transport Company of Westwego, Louisiana.

In 1974, the tug was acquired by the Harbert Construction Corporation of Birmingham, Alabama. Where she was renamed as the Lady Mary Sue.

In 1977, she was acquired by the Simms Brothers Towing Company of Mobile, Alabama. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1977, the tug was acquired by the Harcon Barge Company of Smithland, Kentucky. Where she was renamed as the Glennis Doom.

In 1984, the Harcon Barge Company renamed the tug as the Cumberland Express.

In 1988, she was acquired by M/G Transport Services Incorporated of Cincinnati, Ohio. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1988, the tug was acquired by Red Bird Enterprises Incorporated of Summerdale, Alabama. Where she retained her name and was leased to the Walker Towing Corporation of Paducah, Kentucky.

In 1994, she was leased to James Marine Incorporated of Paducah, Kentucky. Where the tug retained her name.

In 1995, the tug was acquired by James Marine Incorporated of Paducah, Kentucky. Where she retained her name.

In 2008, she was acquired by the Ingram Barge Company of Nashville, Tennessee. Where the tug retained her name.

In 2019, the tug was acquired by Mavericks Towboat Solutions LLC. of Paducah, Kentucky. Where she retained her name and was operated by Inland Marine Service Incorporated of Hebron, Kentucky.

Repowered in 1999, she is driven by two Cummins KT38 diesel engines. With Falk reduction gears, at a ratio 2.5:1. She is a twin screw towboat, rated at 2,000 horsepower.
