Named after John W. Stone Jr., the owner of John W. Stone Oil Distributor.

Powered by two, Caterpillar 3508 diesel engines. With Twin Disc 540 reduction gears, turning two fixed pitch, 76(in) by 68(in) propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 2,100 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two, 99kW, John Deere generator sets. The tug's capacities are 30,000 gallons of fuel, 2,400 gallons of lube oil, 10,000 gallons of water, and 29,200 gallons of ballast.

The towing equipment consists of two 65-ton Patterson deck winches, mounted on the bow.
