Built in 1955, by American Boiler Works Incorporated of Erie, Pennsylvania (hull #ST-2124) and completed by Matton Shipyard Incorporated of Cohoes, New York as the the ST-2124 for the United States Army.
In 1956, the tug was delivered to the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps and allocated to US Army Transportation Corps. She was placed in service as ST-2124 (Quaker Hill).
In 2002, she was removed from active service. And was acquired by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute of Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Where the tug was renamed as the Betsy.
In 2003, the tug was acquired by was W.C. Schultz Company of Falmouth, Massachusetts. Where she retained her name.
In 2026, she was acquired by Stasinos Marine LLC. of Fall River, Massachusetts. Where the tug was renamed as the Uncle Jim.
Originally powered by a single, six cylinder White Atlas Imperial 6HM3358 diesel engine. She was a single screw tug, rated at 600 horsepower.
She was later repowered with a single Cummins KTA-38 diesel engine. With a ZF 2450 reduction gear, at a ratio of 5.036:1. She is a single screw tug, rated at 1,140 horsepower.
Her electrical service is provided by one, 20kW Westerbeke WTA-20-614 generator set. And, one 20kW Northern Lights BMXVXXL03.3AAF generator set. The tug's capacities are 6,000 gallons of fuel, 150 gallons of lube oil, 160 gallons of hydraulic oil, 1,207 gallons of potable water.
Her towing equipment consists of a Nabrico electric / hydraulic capstan mounted on her stern.
