STEPHEN REINAUER

Built in 1970, by Halter Marine Services Incorporated of New Orleans, Louisiana (hull #258) as the Esso Bay State for the Esso Shipping Company of Wilmington, Delaware.

In 1973, the Esso Shipping Company became the Exxon Shipping Company of Wilmington, Delaware. Where the tug was renamed as the Exxon Bay State.

In 1993, she was acquired by the Reinauer Transportation Companies of Staten Island, New York. Where she was renamed as the Stephen Reinauer.

In 2007, the tug underwent an extensive refit at Feeney's Enterprises of Kingston, New York. Where she was outfitted with a JAK-400 coupler system.

This refit also included additions to her upper wheelhouse, as well as the removal of her towing machine, and her side decks were enclosed to add weight for stability. The engineering for the project was performed by JMS Naval Architects of Seattle, Washington.

Powered by two, eight cylinder, EMD 8-645-E5 diesel engines. Turning two cast steel, fixed pitch, propellers. She is a twin screw tug, rated at 3,000 horsepower.

Her electrical service is provided by two 75kW generator sets. With a third 75kW auxiliary generator set. The tug's capacities are 61,816 gallons of fuel.
