Rose Cay Maritime LLC. was founded in 2021 to manage eighteen towing vessels, and two additional tank barges purchased by Pennantia LLC. at auction from the Bouchard Transportation Company.

Pennantia LLC. was a subsidiary of Contrarian Capital Management LLC. of Greenwich, Connecticut with a portion of Pennantia LLC. owned by Rose Cay LLC. of New York, New York.

In 2022, Dove Cay LLC., was formed to act as technical and crewing sub-manager of the vessel fleet.

In 2025, after a legal dispute between Rose Cay LLC. and Pennantia LLC. Pennantia LLC. was prohibited from operating the units under the Rose Cay Maritime LLC. trademark and was ordered to remove the Rose Cay Maritime branding from the vessels.
